How about a Digital Swiss Army Knife?

July 10, 2007

Many people carry USB sticks or external USB drives. You can’t get more portable than USB drives, which can be carried in a pocket, around the neck, or even on a key chain. There are ways to make your USB drive more useful By adding SmarThumb suite of software to your USB drive, makes it a virtual PC Swiss Army Knife and they are ready to travel anywhere with you.

With SmarThumb, you can work on any Windows PC, yet enjoy the settings and familiarity of your own personal workspace since SmarThumb applications reside in and operate directly from your USB drive.

As SmarThumb does not operate from the host PC, no prior installation of its application is required, so there is no messing around with preferences and confirgurations that has always made it a pain to share PCs.  And when you’re done, just unplug the device and go, safe in the knowledge that none of your personal information remain on the host PC.

SmarThumb’s suite of software include a portable email client (my.mail), data compression (my.zip), PC Lock (my.lock), PC activity erasure (my.eraser), data encryption my.encoder), data backup (my.backup), digital shredder (my.shredder) and more…..

Just imagine carrying a USB with all these applications – what a handy gadget – a real digital Swiss Army Knife!

my favorite USB software – SmarThumb my.mail

June 28, 2007

I travel frequently and have found it difficult to stay in touch with my email.  With SmarThumb my.mail, I don’t have to worry anymore… most people use Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook for their office mail, and web base mail like Gmail or Yahoo for their personal emails.

I used to be one of these people – the problem with using Outlook Express is that all my mail were downloaded into the PC and all my email addresses were kept in that PC so when I went home, I couldn’t reply any e-mail. And with Yahoo mail, it was rather slow as I had to be online and each mail had to be replied one by one.

Then I started using SmarThumb my.mail – and it is portable as the software is downloaded to my external USB hard disk (40GB) and I carry all my last 5 years’ mail with me (about 6GB)…. virtually email on the move. I can open up to 20 email accounts and with one click of the button, download all the mail at one go – and best of all, with a preview page, I could delete all the spam mail from the server without downloading at all. If there is a particular mail which I want to read, I can just download that
mail without having to wait for everything to be downloaded.

Now I can answer mail offline too, especially my Gmail and Yahoo – I just need to go and download into my external hard disk, go on the plane or to the hotel room, answer all my mail – run back downstairs to a cybercafe or the hotel business centre, upload and send off all my mail – and download the next batch. It is definitely a much faster way of going through my mail.

One more big advantage of using SmarThumb my.mail – I get to carry all my email addresses with me and all my email accounts share one address book instead of having a Gmail address book, a Yahoo address book, etc.

Furthermore, when emails come in, they are immediately sorted out into their own email accounts instead of one large In-box. So it is easy to work – you can choose to answer your office mail first before going to your Gmail or Yahoo mail box. Each email account has their own Inbox, Outbox, Sent and Trash – plus you can create more folders – I have over 40 folders in one account – making it easy for me to manage my e-mail – I try to keep my In-box as clean as possible to allow the fastest loading of my email….
